Luke Alvey is a local Dallas artist who dwells mostly in the abstract world.   He has been painting and drawing since he was a young child. His father is an artist and always encouraged him to create from the time Luke could hold a brush or a pencil. As a young child, his Saturday mornings consisted of drawing cartoons with his dad before watching their Saturday morning cartoons on TV.

Luke began to gain some recognition in High school, as several of his pieces were shown in museums and galleries, such as the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. During college and for several years afterwards, he focused his creative energy into honing his video production skills.  Because of his college endeavors, he found himself in a painting slump for several years. Then, Luke recently rediscovered his passion for abstract acrylic painting. This new experimentation ignited his artistic fire again, which launched his current abstract journey.

Plein Air Sketching & Watercolor Artist

Jackie Haugen is excited to introduce other artists to the experience of Plein Air painting .

It was an assignment to paint on a city street during a Sociology class at TWU that steered her on the path of a Watercolor major at UNT. She has been painting outdoors for over 25 years. Sometimes she is sketch booking with friends and other times just enjoying the scenery and fresh air, coming home with a completed painting and renewed spirit. Her indoor studio is in her home in Highland Village where she currently teaches watercolor classes and paints on commission, helping people tell the story of their favorite places and people.

Her art is frequently described as energetic and imaginative. One of her paintings titled "Pot Bar" was published in 2006 in Palette magazine in the Mar-April issue. She has won many awards through the years including 3 People's Choice Awards and one Best of Show. She is a member of the Visual Art League of Lewisville TX ,The Visual Art Society of Denton TX , The Southwest Watercolor Society Dallas, TX. , and Urban Sketchers of DFW. She is eager to share what she has learned and hopes to encourage you to experience painting in the great outdoors and enhance your joy of painting with Watercolor.
